Otherworldly

Lordly Musings

Wasabi has a new male (or unisex, provided one of the two chest sizes work for you) style out at their mainstore, which means that Ran gets to be the model for once. As always when that is the case, the question of nice period/fantasy clothing for men comes up. The answer remains that sadly there isn’t that much to choose from, but occasionally we come across a really nice piece such as this fancy coat from Contraption. More like that, please!

Also, a head’s (hah) up: Logo is having 30% off their Bento heads this weekend. The head used in this post is Logan, which really needs more skins released for it because it is a very nice head.

Incantation

I felt like it was time for a touch of magic, so I donned the Obscuritas crown from lassitude & ennui on top of my Inoko hair from Wasabi and conjured up some magical auras with a bit of help from the Dreaming Thicket. I performed my incantations in the gothic Rhordyn Towertop Skybox from Trompe Loeil, which offers a vast, cathedral-like space with huge windows at either end. Along the sides, there are stone alcoves that can be used if something less expensive is desired.

Christmas Girl

I managed to find a little time between preparing various dishes for Christmas to make a new vlog for Otherworldly, focusing on Vista’s new bento head and a few other items, such as recent releases from lassitude & ennui and paper moon. As usual, I have the credits at the end of the post. And yes, the Astrology contest I mention in the video is still going on, so check it out.

Gothic Queen

Right now, I seem to be moving from room to room in the Dungan Castle by Fanatik, setting up different scenes in different locations. This one started with the excellent Gothic Bench & Chair set by Fantavatar & Moonstruck for We Love Role-Play. Those pieces just had to be shown off in a castle, but I needed a bit more decor to make the scene come together. That’s when I turn to Paper Moon, especially the sets of tapestries. Those are superb for hanging on your castle walls and making rooms feel a bit more inhabited. You also see a glimpse of a piece from the gacha set “The Songs Ephemera” which are excellent little table settings for different characters.

Serendipitous

I’ve had a bit of a crazy week with entirely too many long trips for various activities. It has all been fun (well, mostly) but it hasn’t left me with much time to relax and play around with Second Life. Yesterday, I managed to sneak in some photos, though I ran out of time to post them. I found a couple of nice new seated poses at Serendipity’s 30 Linden Saturday sale and they were just right for showing off the new corset from Voluptas Virtualis and the Samantha hair from Wasabi.

Fanatik’s Dungan Castle

I have a thing for castles, which meant that when Fanatik announced their latest release, the Dungan Castle, I pretty much knew I would have to get it even before I checked it out. I have already had plenty of mileage as far as photos goes from their previous castle, the Arkaig Castle, and the new one looked sufficiently different that I felt it would be a great addition to the photo locations on our sim. To give a sense of what it is like, I have done a video walk-through. Expect to see more of it in photos in the coming weeks!

Grey Lady

I might be getting ahead of myself seasonally, but I couldn’t resist a wintry landscape for the very grey-themed look I had created with Lumae’s Elentari skin, Grier from Wasabi and the Fiona dress in grey from lassitude & ennui. As it happened, I had a couple of very nice bargains from Redeux to show off as well, one being the Winter Castle modular set from Mushilu (just L$100!). The other? A lovely pose set from Serendipity.

A Pond of Princes

Ever wonder how the Frog Prince ended up cursed to be a frog in the first place? Perhaps there was a pretty witch whose heart he broke. And perhaps he wasn’t the first prince to do so either. You see, she was a bit of a romantic and couldn’t resist being charmed by handsome princes, but something would always go wrong. The prince would go on a quest and have forgotten all about the witch on his return. Sometimes, there’d be a princess involved. Whatever the cause, the witch’s heart would be broken again and soon enough there would be another addition to the pond in her garden. Over time, it got quite crowded there.

Black Towers

The outfit I am wearing is called “Woods Queen” and is available from Noble Creations at We Love Role-Play. However, having done a fantasy shot in the woods for my last blog, I wanted to do something very different with this. I set about browsing the Explore Second Life flickr pool and came across the Chernobyl sim with its strikingly stark landscape.

Oops!

Faida and Velvet Whip have started collaborating on a line of interactive clothing they call “Oops!”. The latest release is out at We Love Role-Play and Titania was kind enough to send it to me. I had been eyeing the earlier releases but since they are fitted for Maitreya, I was a little uncertain how they would work on Slink Physique. It turns out it works pretty well, though I did have to switch the alpha cuts around between the different stages of the dress so doing a video as I had first intended wasn’t ideal. In the more undressed versions, I also had to make some small edits to the images where the alpha cuts didn’t line up right, so if you want to use the outfits for actual roleplay, I do definitely recommend wearing them on the Maitreya body. But since most people aren’t as stubborn as me about sticking to just Slink, that shouldn’t be a problem. ;)

The Lookout

It is time for We Love Role-Play again, so it was particularly appropriate that I ended up using the Roleplay HUD from Mythril to stage this scene. I have had so much use of it since the Fantasy Faire that I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who takes more story focused shots as opposed to modelling shots. In this case, the story is one of a woman looking out over the sea from high up in a castle, waiting for a ship that does not arrive. The new items featured are from Senzafine, lassitude & ennui and Wasabi.

Dramatic Kate

Its fortunate that I am not much for going out on Fridays, because I am absolutely knackered today. I have my weekly riding lesson on Fridays and today our instructor decided to work us to the bone. And to think there are people who insist riding isn’t a proper sport because you just sit there and the horse does all the work. Yeah, right. Anyway, I ended up napping a lot longer than I had planned to after dinner, so I didn’t have time for a full skin review today to celebrate the fact that Skin Fair 2018 is now open. You do get a look a the omega applier for alaskametro from the fair, but that is a face that has been out before, just not as a full range.

Live On Stage

Now that I have started doing vlogs, I seem to come across opportunities for doing them on a regular basis. Take the Performer Chair from Dutchie (PG version here), for example. How could I not showcase this with a video? It is great for photos, too, but that’s the beauty of combining blogs and vlogs, I can do both. Video is also a great way to show off the rigging of mesh clothing, such as this new bodysuit and harness from the Plastik.

A Bath for Two

After two days of at least a little bit of cold weather and sunlight, its back to dreary and grey. Breeze, our boxer, is quite disappointed that he didn’t get to go tracking today as well (two days in a row counts as a new habit for him), but I had to focus on some less fun stuff such as book keeping. I also wanted to show off a recent acquisition, namely the Nicolina bathing tub from Trompe Loeil, available at the current round of FaMESHed. It went nicely together with some pieces from Libertine’s “In Praise of Bacchus” set and the Rustic Fireplace from HEXtraordinary for a past Deco(c)rate. I am not precisely wearing much, but I do want to point out the pretty crown from lassitude & ennui. I also had planned to show off the Logan head from Logo that Ran is wearing, but none of the shots turned out to be quite right for showing the head.

The Spice Girl

I am in the middle of baking for Christmas, which leaves the house smelling wonderfully of cardamon, cinnamnon, cloves and saffron. Gorgeous spices that are essential for a proper Swedish Christmas, despite their distant origins. Given this, it seemed seasonally appropriate to use the Spice Merchant set from Roawenwood as part of the decor for this photo, which also includes pieces from Paper Moon and ANE. The new items featured are the dress from Noble Creations, the hair from Wasabi and the gacha jewellery set from lassitude & ennui.
